The care after Angioplasty
AFTER Angioplasty
Take your medicine as directed:
Call your primary healthcare provider if you think your medicine is not working as expected. Tell him if you are allergic to any medicine. Keep a current list of the medicines, vitamins, and herbs you take. Include the amounts, and when, how, and why you take them. Take the list or the pill bottles to follow-up visits. Carry your medicine list with you in case of an emergency. Throw away old medicine lists.
• Antibiotics: Your caregiver may send you home with antibiotics if you have a stent in your artery. You may need to take antibiotics before having dental care and other procedures. Taking antibiotics first may help prevent bacterial endocarditis which is an infection in the heart. Tell your dentist or other caregivers about your PCI and stent before having a procedure. Always take your antibiotics as directed by your caregiver and take them until they are all gone.
• Blood thinners: Blood thinners are medicines that help prevent blood clots from forming. Clots can cause strokes, heart attacks, and death. Blood thinners make it more likely for you to bleed or bruise. If you are taking a blood thinner:
o Watch for bleeding from your gums or nose. Watch for blood in your urine and bowel movements. Use a soft washcloth on your skin and a soft toothbrush on your teeth. This can keep your skin and gums from bleeding. If you shave, use an electric shaver. Do not play contact sports, such as football.
o Be aware of what medicines you take. Many medicines cannot be used when taking medicine to thin your blood. Tell your dentist and other caregivers that you take blood-thinning medicine. Wear or carry medical alert information that says you are taking this medicine.
o Take this medicine exactly as your caregiver tells you. Tell your caregiver right away if you forget to take the medicine, or if you take too much. You may need to have regular blood tests while on this medicine. Your caregiver uses these tests to decide how much medicine is right for you.
o Talk to your caregiver about your diet. This medicine works best when you eat about the same amount of vitamin K every day. Vitamin K is found in green leafy vegetables and other foods, such as cooked peas.

Heart Hospital
Brief Information on charitable Heart Hospital at Amravati
Shri Sant Acchyut Maharaj Heart Hospital and Research Institute, Amravati
Introduction :-
In India yearly 50 Lacs peoples are victim of heart attack, out of which 30 lacs cannot even reach to the hospital. As per the estimate of World Health Organization in the year 2015 about 90 lacs peoples will be the yearly victim of heart attack in India.
The problem with heart attack is its unpredictability; It is difficult to predict the possibility of heart attack. The reality is that a heart attack can occur at any time and at any place.
In this era of competition and depression, cardiac problems are common. 60% of working persons of age group above 35 age group are facing this problems, the treatment of this disease is above the affording limit of a common man.
Also the treatment of the heart problem is not available at every place, Hence these patients generally have to move to metro cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bangalore etc, That makes the treatment more expensive for the patients to stay at new place and get treatment or operation.
It is long awaited need that the super specialty Cardiac hospital should function in the Vidarbha Region. In Nagpur city there are couples of hospitals having facility of cardiac surgery. Amravati is centralized place of Vidarbha region. But there was no facility available for cardiac surgery, there is no heart hospital in Amravati and even in other districts (Akola, Washim, Buldhana, Yeotmal) of Amravati Region.
Shri Sant Acchyut Maharaj had a dream to serve the patients of heart disease of Vidarbha region at affordable cost: All needy heart patients from Vidarbha Region especially BPL patients and economically weaker section of the region are likely to be benefited by this hospital.
Brief History and Achievements :-
Shri Sant Acchyut Maharaj is well known saint from Vidarbha Region. He is disciple of Rashtra-Sant Tukdoji Maharaj and Shri Sant Gadge Maharaj. He is in the service of mankind and has a special inclination for poor heart disease patients. The poverty line patients cannot afford highly expensive, sophisticated heart surgery that too at metropolitan city like Mumbai and have to lose their precious life due to poverty. Shri Sant Acchyut Maharaj craves to offer services to heart patients since long. He had a dream to establish heart hospital to cater the needs of such patients in Amravati region. So he along with his disciples struggled hard day & night, to achieve this noble dream. They have succeeded in establishing charitable Heart Hospital at Amravati.
Deeply moved by the suffering of a child afflicted with heart disease, and the plight of his poor parents, Sane Guruji Manav Seva Sangh-Amravati came into being in 1987 under the president ship of Shri Sant Acchyut Maharaj with a noble objective to guide and help the poor and the needy heart patients. Sane Guruji Manav Seva Sangh with the help of cardiac surgeon and cardiologist of Mumbai and Nagpur organised heart disease diagnostic camps regularly and selected heart patients for operation. The Sangh held twenty heart diagnostic camps, and one operative camp, during which 26 patients underwent heart operations at Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Medical Collage, Amravati.
The members of Sane Guruji Manav Seva Sangh collected money from every possible source e.g. from Prime Minister Fund, Chief Minister’s Fund, Funds from social and religious institutes, “Jeevandai Arogya Yojana” of Govt. of Maharashtra and helped more than 1250 such heart patients to under-go heart operation at KEM hospital and Sion hospital Mumbai.
It was soon evident that sending the heart patients from poor socio-economic background to Mumbai adds woes to the worries of the patients, their relatives, including the organizers. To lessen the suffering of the heart patients and their relatives, the Sangh decided project, but a difficult task. With untiring efforts of Shri Sant Acchyut Maharaj Heart Hospital stands on a sprawling 4.5 acre piece of land. It is situated at a picturesque place, 8 Kms away from Amravati on Mardi road. Its built up area is 16,000 sq feet. The natural surrounding and the healthy atmosphere will help the patients to recover faster.
It is a 50 bedded hospital, with provision of sophisticated ultra-modern operation theatre for carrying out all heart operations with modem Intensive Cardiac Care Unit, special ward, general ward, etc, It is provided with well-equipped pathology laboratory, X-ray, ECG, Echo-Color Doppler machine computerized stress test machine to do diagnostic work of patients. The valuation of building is approximately 2.00 crore and cost of Machinery and equipment is above 3.00 crore.
The amount raised (nearly Rs 5 crores) for the building construction and the purchase of necessary gadgets and instruments required for performing heart operations was raised exclusively through public donations.
Having constructed the building, and equipped it for cardiac surgery, actually performing heart operations was no less a daunting task. It was a challenge-a big challenge, indeed! Finally, on 7.7.2006 heart operations were performed by Dr. Ratna Mangotra, Mumbai and her team. It was a dream come true! The operations were performed on camp basis. It was a good beginning, but far from desired in the futuristic view of the hospital.
With the joining of Dr. Ashok Bhoyar M.S. M.Ch (CVTS), Dip NBE as a senior cardio-vascular surgeon from August 2006 the OPD has become regular, and the cardiac surgical team is taking shape. The full time services of Dr. Ashok Bhoyar, senior cardiac surgeon, Dr. Padmaja Deshpande, M.D. Anaesthetic & Dr. Nitin Bijwe, MBBS, D.A. and Shri Mohar singh, perfugenist are available in the campus. So far more than 750 operations (both close and open) are performed with excellent operative results.
The heart hospital is fully equipped with necessary machinery and equipments along with qualified, experienced chief cardiac surgeon and necessary staff to run the hospital
